THE COURSE NUMBER & Tally Number

At Seagull, all course accounting, reporting, and archiving is by the week. Everything pertaining to a particular trainer’s weekly activity is controlled through his “Course Number”. Information related to a particular course during a particular week is maintained by a “Tally Number”.

THE COURSE NUMBER

A course number is made up of 3 sets of 2 characters:
Indicates your trainer code, example: (SE). A trainer code is issued to trainers when they are approved as trainers. A trainer’s code never changes.
Indicates the year the course was provided (06).
Indicates the week the course was provided (22). The week code will be from 01 to 52. Weeks begin on Sunday and end on Saturday.
A complete course number for the week will look like this:
JS1309

THE TALLY NUMBER

At the end of a training, course numbers are no longer used. Tally Numbers take their place. A Tally Number is as follows:
Course Number - Number of Students + Course Type

There are two Course Type Codes for RRP:
1. “PBCR” for the initial 8 hour RRP course
2. “PBCRR” for the 4 hour refresher RRP course
Therefor, a initial RRP course with 7 students would produce a Tally Number like the following:
JS1309-7PBCR
These numbers are extremely important. They control all of the pre-notifications and post notifications to the scores of agencies that allow Seagull training to be approved or accepted in all 50 states.

Messing up these numbers can cause a huge fine. If you have any question, what-so-ever, call Seagull at 1-800-966-9933. If you dial #3 after the phone answers, you can get a Seagull administrator 24/7.
